Shaila Jahan
Shaila Jahan is a seasoned legal practitioner, enrolled as an Advocate of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She has in her credit extensive expertise in the energy and infrastructure sectors, advising clients on strategic planning, asset development, acquisitions, and project financing. Her legal practice spans to civil, criminal, and constitutional law, with a particular focus on matters involving fundamental rights and individual liberties.
Ms. Jahan’s core competencies include negotiating project agreements with the Government of Bangladesh and drafting and negotiating complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements. She has significant experience structuring financing arrangements for energy companies, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders including government entities, EPC and O&M contractors, original equipment manufacturers, multilateral development agencies, development finance institutions (DFIs), and commercial banks involved in long-term project financing.
She regularly appears before the Company and Admiralty Benches of the Hon’ble High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Additionally, she represents clients in matters involving the Chittagong Port Authority and the Bangladesh Power Development Board, providing strategic legal counsel on regulatory, contractual, and infrastructure-related issues.
Internationally, Ms. Jahan has served as a Legal Administrative Assistant at Gehi & Associates, a prominent New York City-based law firm specializing in immigration law. She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Human Rights from Bangladesh and is currently pursuing a second LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies at St. John’s University School of Law.
